Silently and hidden they kneel,
those who battle darkness in the night.
Against powers and principalities they do war,
knowing only Him who gives the light.
No laurel wreaths in life will they receive,
just on their knees day by day they kneel.
Their ministry known only to the King,
His heart the only thing that they can feel.
In glory there waits a crown of gold,
but in this life only His travail.
Men do not give rewards for this,
but God will take them within the veil.
Working for no reward but Him,
lives laid down in supplications deep.
Concerned with His will and heart,
loving not ease nor even sleep.
Broken hearted for the sin of the church,
That causes bondage yet to remain.
They stand within the gaping gap,
To see the church whole once again.
Broken because the lost are not saved,
seeing it is because we have sinned.
Repenting, dying, resurrected now they pray,
to see the people set free from their sin.
On they pray their understanding clear,
eternity now within their view.
The Father’s heart is the issue here,
at His side stand these chosen few.
Incense on the altar does arise,
prayer ascends now before the throne.
The hand of God moves to stem the tide,
to cause the heathen to become His own.
Yet on their knees they stay,
knowing only this for sure.
It’s always time to pray,
the church has yet to be made pure.
Glory of Glories is moving through His church,
no credit will these humble prayers take.
A worthless servant has only done his work,
it was all done only for His sake.
The smile of God to them is enough,
to hear His laughter ring throughout the earth.
His heart delighted as He now does touch,
His love, His bride, His lovely full-grown church.
